YOUR JOURNEY STARTS HERE
Step into the world of horses and experience their herd and family in a stunning mountain wilderness west of Boulder.
These retreats create a space for deep listening, presence, trust and a authentic connection - a place where the alchemy of horse-human relationships can bring peace and transformation.

Kelly Keeney is an integrative veterinarian whose lifelong relationship and connection with horses all animals and the natural world have been guiding lights for her path from her very beginnings. These relationships have shaped her life in many profound ways and have led her to her current path as a holistic veterinarian and steward of the land and the animals in her care. She and her partner bring their connection and commitment to sharing this sacred container through offering humans an intimate and safe healing space guided by and in partnership with the equine herd and the land on their Colorado ranch.
A graduate of the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine with advanced training that includes certification from the Chi Institute in Veterinary Acupuncture, a Graduate Diploma in Western Herbal Medicine, certification in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine, and IVCA certification in Animal Chiropractic, she offers specialty integrative/holistic veterinary care for dogs, cats, and horses.

The retreats offer an opportunity to step into a horse world, into their herd and family in a spectacular wilderness/nature setting, cultivating a container for humans to find their way back to a state of deep authentic listening, presence, trust, connection, peace and the profound alchemical change that horses can offer humans. The process is most importantly centered on the culture and social order within the herd. Other fundamental areas informing and woven into the process are neuroscience, nature-based intelligence/wisdom, indigenous teachings, equine behavior and liberty equestrianism, somatics, attachment theory, biomimicry and more.
The horses remain at liberty/free to move naturally as they want (not controlled by tack or contained against their will) and this opens a unique door into building relationships without force that are rooted in trust and respect. It creates a space where deep self exploration, true partnerships and transformative experiences can flow. There is an incredible body of research now proving the profound healing effects horses have on humans.

Spend unhurried, private time with the herd in a quiet, spacious setting designed just for you. You’ll be gently guided through simple, on‑the‑ground interactions with the horses, with room for silence, questions, and whatever feelings arise. This offering can also include a partner, close friend, or family member for a small additional fee, creating a shared experience of connection and support. You leave with a softer nervous system, a few simple practices to take home, and a renewed sense of being held by the land, herd and greater forces of the natural world.

This intimate group retreat brings together a small circle of like‑hearted humans to slow down, breathe, and be with the horses and the land. You’ll alternate between guided time with the herd, quiet personal reflection, and gentle journaling or nature‑based practices. At a few points, the group gathers in a cozy circle to share insights, questions, or simple moments of beauty that arose during the day. You’re invited to participate at your own comfort level, with no pressure to perform or “do it right.”

A few times a year, we open the ranch for a special larger‑group gathering centered on ceremony, connection, and seasonal themes with the horses. These 3–4 events are designed as a deeper communal experience, weaving together time with the herd, guided reflection, and moments of shared ritual or intention‑setting. You’ll have space to connect with others on a similar path, while still honoring your own pace and sensitivity. Each event is a one‑of‑a‑kind day to mark transitions, celebrate the turning of the year, or simply remember your place in the wider web of life.
My experience with Kelly and her horses was lovely - Kelly is gentle, loving and kind with us and with her horse kin [horses], and she invites us into this kind of authentic and respectful relationship with the horses. I was most deeply touched by the way Kelly relates and communicates with the horses, not "making" them do anything, but rather inviting them into an authentic conversation with her and us. The horses were lovely as well-- spirited, engaging, present. I left feeling inspired about the mystery of horses and the magic of our ability to connect with them.
I would refer friends and clients to Kelly-- knowing she will hold a respectful and loving container for the connection between humans and horses. Her presence and the conversation she invites with the horses is healing, compassionate and trustworthy. The whole experience she invites us into is unique, valuable and beneficial.
Thank you for your care, and for letting me into your herd!

“Kelly’s amazing presence and the opportunity for special connection with wonderful horses in a really beautiful place made for such an enlightening and insightful day. Thanks for a chance to change things up!” ~Annie
Spending the afternoon with Kelly and her horses was a much-needed reprieve from the busyness of day-to-day life. I really appreciated how Kelly was not invasive at all, and instead offered gentle support, guidance, and thoughtful interpretation of her horses’ behaviors. After my healing afternoon, I drove down the mountain with a deep sense of openness in my heart and a palpable awareness of joy and peace. It was like spending a day in wonderland. ~Caroline
